The Minister of Employment and Labour has, in terms of Section 6(5) of the National Minimum Wage Act, amended the national minimum wage as set out in Schedule 1 and 2 of the Act, which will be effective from 1 March 2021.

The amended national minimum wage for the following occupations, are the following:
– Farm workers will be entitled to a minimum wage of R21,69 per hour;
– Domestic workers will be entitled to a minimum wage of R19,09 per hour;
– Workers employed on an expanded public works program will be entitled to a minimum wage of R11.93; and
– Workers who have concluded learnership agreements contemplated in Section 17 of the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998), will be entitled to the allowances contained in Schedule 2 of the Act.
